Usman Qadir Moves to Australia to Pursue New Cricketing Opportunities
Leg spinner Usman Qadir, 31, has moved to New South Wales, Australia, to pursue a new phase in his cricket career. After retiring from Pakistan cricket in October 2024, Qadir is currently playing for Hawkesbury Cricket Club in Sydney. In a social media post at the time of his retirement, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Pakistan and thanked his coaches and teammates for their support.

Qadir had moments of brilliance during his Pakistan career, such as winning the Player of the Series in a T20I series against Zimbabwe in 2020. He briefly became Pakistan’s leading leg spinner but struggled with inconsistency and off-field issues. Before joining Pakistan, Qadir had a stint in Australia, playing for Western Australia and in the Big Bash League with Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder.
Qadir’s decision to return to Australia follows a turbulent period with Pakistan, including frustrations with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He now hopes to rebuild his career in Australia. “Cricket is my livelihood, and I have come to Australia with a plan for my future,” he said. His family is expected to join him soon as he seeks new opportunities.
