PTI Presents Key Demands for Investigation into May 9 and Nov 26 Events

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has presented a written “Charter of Demands” during ongoing negotiations with the government. The party demands the formation of two commissions to investigate the events of May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024, as well as the release of political prisoners. PTI has threatened to halt negotiations if the commissions are not set up within seven days.

The first commission would focus on investigating the legality of Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9, 2023, the break-in at the Islamabad High Court, and the violence that followed across the country. It would also examine issues like the use of force, the treatment of detainees, human rights violations, and media censorship during the unrest. PTI also calls for transparency in the inquiry process, with public access to proceedings.

The party insists on a thorough investigation into the legal aspects of government actions, including internet shutdowns and the impact on citizens. PTI’s demand for a fair inquiry comes as part of their broader goal to restore the Constitution, uphold the rule of law, and ensure free and fair elections.
