PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges UN to Sanction Israel and Address Global Conflicts
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on the United Nations Security Council to impose sanctions on Israel, including an arms and trade embargo, due to its actions against Palestinians. Speaking during a high-level debate at the UN General Assembly, he urged the council to compel Israel to end its military actions in Gaza and prevent broader conflict in the Middle East.
Sharif condemned Israel’s attacks in Lebanon and emphasized the need for accountability. He also called for an impartial ceasefire plan for the Ukraine conflict and highlighted the dangers of ongoing wars, global tensions, and rising poverty.

Regarding Kashmir, he urged the council to address human rights violations and implement its resolutions for a plebiscite. Sharif also emphasized the need to combat terrorism, support African nations, and enhance UN peacekeeping. He stressed the importance of controlling new weapons technologies and pledged that Pakistan would pursue these goals when it joins the Security Council next year.
