Malaysian Prime Ministers Commitment to Strengthening Ties with Pakistan
In a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized strengthening military relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. They discussed strategic interests, regional security, and defense cooperation, according to the military’s media wing.
PM Ibrahim arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday with a high-level delegation for a three-day visit. He also met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Zardari to address various bilateral, regional, and international issues.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that PM Ibrahim praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their role in maintaining regional peace and stability, recognizing their professionalism and sacrifices against terrorism. He invited the army chief to visit Malaysia to further enhance military ties.
During his visit, President Zardari awarded PM Ibrahim the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian honor, for his support of Islamic causes and friendship with Pakistan. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including PM Shehbaz Sharif.
PM Ibrahim is known for his commitment to humanitarian causes and Islamic values, finding inspiration in the works of Allama Iqbal. A state dinner was also held in his honor during his visit.
