JUI F Leader Slams Proposed Amendments Warns of Rights Erosion
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has once again criticized the proposed constitutional amendments, claiming they aim to protect the coalition government rather than bring about real reforms. Speaking at a press conference in Multan, he predicted that the current government might not complete its term.

Fazl urged institutions to stay within their constitutional limits and expressed concerns that the proposed changes would reduce citizens’ rights. He stated that his party would not negotiate on the amendments until they received a clear draft.
Despite ongoing discussions between JUI-F and the ruling coalition, the government is still short of votes needed to pass the amendments in parliament. Fazl emphasized that JUI-F would oppose any legislation that harms the Constitution or judiciary.
In response, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif assured that the government would continue to engage with Fazl to address his concerns.
