KARACHI: The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has reported the 18th case of poliovirus in Pakistan this year, confirming a new case from Quetta. This is the second case from Quetta and the 13th from Balochistan, which has the highest number of cases in the country.

The wild poliovirus type 1 has paralyzed a two-year-old boy in Quetta. Officials from the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) noted that disruptions in vaccination campaigns in some Balochistan neighborhoods have allowed the virus to spread.
