Blast in Quetta Injures 12 Heightens Security Concerns

An explosion near a police mobile on the eastern bypass in Quetta injured at least 12 people, including two police officers, on Wednesday. Officials found a damaged motorcycle at the blast site, which is believed to have contained explosives. A bomb disposal squad was called to investigate.

The injured were taken to Civil Sandeman Hospital. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, urging authorities to ensure medical support for the victims and promising that terrorists would be brought to justice.

This incident follows a recent remote-controlled bomb blast that targeted a police van escorting foreign diplomats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in one officer’s death and several injuries.

Since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan in 2021, violent attacks have surged, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Last month alone saw a rise in attacks, prompting the federal government to approve a renewed counter-terrorism campaign.
